Rolls of raw materials like steel, aluminum and plastics are delivered in bulk to the assembly plant.
Sheets of steel and aluminum are put into huge stamping machines that press down on them to shape them into the car’s body panels.
Robots in the body shop weld and bolt the stamped panels together to make structural components and the car begins to take shape
After the body has been washed, the paint shop robots spray every surface of the metal body in the car’s selected paint color
This is where the engine, transmission and other drive components are assembled together
The interior components get loaded into the body on robotic arms and operators on the assembly line bolt them into place
Teams of assembly line workers add components one by one to finish the construction of the car both inside and out. Seats, doors, wheels, electrical wiring and decorative trim all get added by hand.
Trained workers check adjustments on different components, inspect moving parts, make sure the features are working properly and that everything is assembled to meet our standards of World Class Manufacturing
The assembled car passes through specially lighted tunnel to allow technicians to inspect the car for any possible flaws or defects ensuring the highest quality.
Just for some historical context. Here is a cool video of a Dodge Brothers assembly plant from way back in 1917. Our facilities have come a LONG way in improving worker safety, cleanliness, production numbers and the build quality of our products.
